New Faces: January 2021
written by
Georgia Butler
January 2021 has been yet another strange month, but the work never stops here at SR. Scroll to meet our new faces..
Funmi began her modelling career at 21 years old after finishing university. SO far in her career she has worked with a great list of clients including ASOS, QVC, Hunger magazine and Olivia Rubin. Outside of modelling, Funmi is a writer, making her all the more fun to interview! Her dream is to produce many different projects ‘within culture, fashion and film’ - a true story teller.
We asked her a few questions to get to know her a little better..
What has been your favourite job so far?
My favourite job was walking at London Fashion Week for Olivia Rubin, I love the 80s so it felt like I was "living the dream" and the clothes were totally my style.
Tell us about your funniest moment on set/in a casting..
My funniest moment on set was when I had to change into this really intricately made blazer with different cut holes. Everyone had to help me get into it, the stylist, assistant, the designer and even the photographer. It was quite the event but at least the photos came out great haha!
What are your interests/hobbies outside of work?
I'm really into interactive art now, I want to do something that makes me feel immersed. Sometimes just staring at a painting isn't enough. And I also love reading which sounds cliché but I never used to read enough but now I'm actively doing it.
Do you have any advice for new models/actors?
Start small and use the people around you that you trust and admire. Try not to buy into scams and always do what makes you feel comfortable. Don't worry if you're not doing the best or glossy looking work because every job is an opportunity that gets you closer to where you need to be and the people you meet along the way are just as important. And make sure to have fun during the process.
Funmi also has a blog you can check out over on her instagram @forhermusings
