Meet the Model: Ocean Navarro

written by
Rhiannon Bond

Today we're chatting to the wonderful Ocean, a model, actor and influencer... Ocean is a triple threat for sure and has a huge personality which we absolutely love.

Let's get started! How did you get into the industry and how long have you been modelling / acting now?
I've been in the industry for 2.5 years, I started taking acting classes and was signed to a commercial agency around the same time and viola! Here we are!

What advice would you give to someone starting out?
You are special in your own way, find that and use it to help you.

Favourite job/casting you've ever been on?
Favourite job was when I flew to South Africa for a commercial shoot for Samsung. Funniest experience I've had was getting strapped to a car and pulling it while JME was in the back yelling jokes for a Nike Ad.

We know you love aerial hoop from your Instagram, tell us about your hobbies...
I love circus and making things. I sew so when I have time and I like making cute new outfits, I love aerial hoop and aerial yoga because it's so fun to see what new skills I can learn and see where I can push my body to make it better.

Do you have any other professions outside of modelling?
Acting, and on occasion doing stunt work, it's probably the most satifying feeling knowing your training has actually contributed to your dream job!

What's the biggest challenge you've faced in the modelling industry so far?
I think the prospect of maybe not booking another job again is always going to be there so you tend to say yes to all the jobs and then fast forward 2.5 years later you realise you've become one of those people who spend every minute physically or mentally being at work. It's exhausting; so it's always important to take a break and honour that. Getting off the internet and spending time doing other things that bring you peace is important.

Desert Island questions... 3 things you can't live without and what would you eat if you could only eat 1 meal for the rest of your life?
I couldn't live without sports, vegetables and my skin regime. The meal I would eat would be lobster with sweet potatoes and steamed veg....yum!

How's life looking in lockdown right now?
I get up around 7 / 7:30am, make my matcha chai latte and read the news. I'll then do some aerial hoop training / aerial yoga!
I'll probably then have to do a self tape or have a Zoom meeting and then I'm likely to watch a film after or indulge in a guilty pleasure (90 Day Fiancé).

And finally... what's your biggest achievement to date?
Landing my first movie as on of the lead roles last year was such an incredible experience and I really hope I get to share it with everyone soon!

Thank you so much for joining us today. You can view Ocean's page here...
