Junior modelling is fun and rewarding work and our Junior division represents children and teenagers from 1-16 for both photographic and television work.
In this age group, looks are not so important as how a child works on camera – however good looking, if a child does not react well and enjoy working to direction, a client will not be happy to pay for them. The reason clients contact an agency to book a junior model rather than using children they know is to enable the photographer and all concerned to concentrate on their jobs rather than worrying about the model. Babies and younger children need to be well-behaved and sociable while older children and teenagers need to be confident and friendly. In all cases, the parent/guardian chaperoning the child on any castings or bookings must portray a well-groomed and professional image as they will play a major part in giving the ‘first impression’ to clients.
In order for us to make a full assessment and obtain photographs of a suitable standard which are essential for promotion if your child is offered a place onto the books, there are two options as follows:
These castings, from which our agency recruits exclusively, are held during school holidays and include working in the studio and on location (weather permitting). They are treated as much like a client booking as possible – similar to a catalogue shoot.
There is a nominal fee which includes a photographic stylist working with the child and photographer to ensure this introduction to photographic modelling is as enjoyable as possible and a make-up artist/hair stylist will be present to offer help and advice to older children. Digital contact sheets and one free enlargement are included and extra prints from the session may be purchased at cost if required.
This extremely popular confidence building day is great fun, held during school holidays and designed to introduce teenagers to various aspects of modelling, acting and self-presentation. The workshop is kept small with a maximum of 10 students to enable every student to receive the individual attention necessary to achieve the expected standard. In addition to the above photographic test shoot, it includes the following, which offer invaluable skills to this age group:
catwalk
Good deportment is an essential basic requirement for anyone wishing to gain the confidence necessary for success in any field. You will be shown basic deportment and trained to fully choreographed show modelling covering all the turns and movements necessary to achieve the high professional standard.
make-up & grooming
Our make-up artist will teach you how to apply your own natural make-up properly and how to strengthen it when required for photographic shoots. You will also be taught how important it is to look well-groomed from top to toe and advised on various aspects of this.
improvisation & tv presentation
During this lesson you will work as a team to gain confidence in improvisation skills as well as working with an agency booker learning how to present yourself for castings and bookings.
To keep costs down for you, we hold all our test shoots for new faces in our Norwich studio. New faces based in London or the South will only have to visit the Norwich studio on this one occasion – if your child is consequently accepted onto our books, he/she will be put forward for work and castings in the London area. Norwich is very accessible from London in under 2 hours either by car or direct train from Liverpool Street (if you book ahead train tickets are from as little as £6 each way). Following your test shoot, if your child is offered a place on our books, the correct publicity material will be required and the resulting enlargements will then need to be scanned onto our website, www.sandrareynolds.co.uk, and also index cards printed for the agency bookers to promote them to clients. Any nominal costs for this will be fronted by the agency and deducted from earnings.
If you would like to receive further information regarding junior modelling, please send an email to recruitment@sandrareynolds.co.uk including your name and address together with your childs name/s and age/s. Alternatively, if you would like to enrol for either of the above, please follow the link below (a credit card is required for a deposit).
